Treating Alcohol & Drug Addiction in Tennessee
For those struggling with alcohol abuse and drug addiction, intensive treatment may be required for a successful recovery. What Is an Intensive Outpatient Program?
Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) offer more comprehensive treatment than most standard addiction treatment programs. Unlike an inpatient program, however, clients do not need to live full-time at the facility. Instead, you will continue living and sleeping at home but will travel to our center every day or multiple times a week to attend therapy sessions, group meetings, support groups, etc.
An IOP can be thought of as “part-time” treatment, in terms of the time spent at the facility. However, these intensive programs still offer comprehensive addiction treatment while also addressing underlying or co-occurring behavioral and mental health issues.
How Does It Work?
At Tennessee Wellness Center, we customize our treatment programs to the unique needs of each individual. Your exact treatment plan will vary depending on several factors, including the type of addiction you are struggling with and its severity, as well as whether you are experiencing co-existing mental health challenges, underlying trauma, familial or relationship problems, and more.
That being said, most intensive outpatient programs consist of the following:
- Clients travel to the center on a daily or weekly basis for a period of about 90 days
- Treatment begins at a more intensive level before becoming gradually less intensive as the client moves forward in their recovery
- Treatments consist of a combination of talk therapy, family/group therapy, and regular attendance at support group meetings and other activities
- Clients receive ongoing support from our staff, as well as continuous adjustments to their treatment plan over time
With an IOP, you get the intensive support you need while continuing to live at home. This allows you to maintain employment, continue meaningful relationships, and develop crucial skills for successfully navigating the world post-recovery.
